Food Not Bombs - started in Boston in 1980 as an outgrowth of the anti-nuclear movement. Gives out free food in public spaces as a way of dramatizing the level of hunger and the surplus of food being wasted.
FREE the NEED - an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the distribution of surplus food, clothing and shelter to needy families in San Francisco and surrounding Bay Area communities.
Food Runners - a volunteer organization that picks up excess food from restaurants, bakeries, markets, hotels, and delivers it to feeding programs in the city
