Stop Global Warming Action at Crissy Field in San Francisco By Mari ElizaWhile the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP 14) was underway in Poznan, Poland. People concerned about global warming gathered in cities around the world to in support of the Conference, green colar jobs, and policy changes aimed at protecting the planet.
Green Peace held rallies in 30 cities and regions around the country, including Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco. In San Francisco a 30' by 50' banner was unfurled in Crissy Field near the Golden Gate Bridge. Local leaders and activists got the crowd going with rousing speaches. The staged some photos for the media. Had a couple of fly-bys of the huge banner, before the crowd gatherd to march closer to the bridge. Holding up signs and banners, passed by the city-sponsored "Flower Power" Cool Globe, (part of the Cool Globe project), to continue with the program. The crowd was happy to chant for "Green Jobs Now" and pose for pictures and videos. The polar bears were very popular with photographers. I chatted with Green Peace organizers who seemed quite pleased with the events. There was some interest in 1Sky.
