"The Point" has over 250 artists on site and is one of the largest
artist communities in the country. Twice a year, during "Open Studios"
artists open their studios and show their work. The event is free and open to
the public.

Point History ...

In 1867 Hunters Point was the first permanent dry-dock on the Pacific
coast. In 1939 the Navy purchased the site for a shipyard. In 1980 some
of the buildings were renovated into artists studios.

Directions to the Point:
Bus: Take MUNI 19 Polk South to the end of the line.
Auto: From North or South on Hwy 101 take the Army Street (now called
Cesar Chavez) exit, then Army/Chavez Street East, right on Evans. Evans
becomes Innes near the PG&E plant and ends at the shipyard. [Yahoo!
